Cílem celoevropské sítě korespondentů vytvořené Evropskou nadací pro zlepšení životních a pracovních podmínek (European Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working Conditions – EUROFOUND) je shromažďovat, analyzovat a šířit informace o industriálních vztazích, pracovních podmínkách, změnách na trhu práce a životních podmínkách. Výstupy jsou primárně určeny organizacím sociálních partnerů jak na evropské, tak na národní úrovni, vládním organizacím, institucím EU i široké odborné veřejnosti. Úlohu korespondentů plní výzkumné instituce a vysoké školy ve státech EU a kandidátských státech včetně Norska. Činnost korespondentů a témata, na která se během roku zaměřují, jsou koordinovány na základě rozhodnutí poradenského výboru, ve němž zasedají zástupci zaměstnavatelů, odborů a vlád členských států EU a představitelé Evropské komise.
Korespondenti shromažďují informace o kolektivním vyjednávání a reprezentativnosti sociálních partnerů. Za tímto účelem jsou zpracovávány studie charakterizující vybrané sektory národního hospodářství.
Monitorovány jsou také pracovní podmínky v nejširším slova smyslu – například dopady takzvaných prekérních forem práce, dále vliv pracovních podmínek na zdravotní stav zaměstnanců, na kariérní a profesní rozvoj, na slaďování rodinného života s prací.
Korespondenti rovněž monitorují změny na trhu práce v důsledku restrukturalizace ekonomiky. Tato činnost spočívá v průběžném monitorování informací v českém denním tisku a jiných dostupných informačních médiích (vznik nových pracovních míst, útlum, přesun nebo zrušení stávajících pracovních míst).
Sledovány jsou dále klíčové aspekty související se zlepšováním životních podmínek lidí ať už se týkají bydlení, sociálních služeb, zdravotnictví nebo udržitelného způsobu života.
