Description:

The goal of the project is to develop a strategy for stabilizing and possibly strengthening the membership base of trade unions based on research and using the experience of the Norwegian partner.

On the basis of in-depth interviews and a questionnaire survey, existing motivators and barriers to joining unions will be identified among unorganized employees and at the same time among existing union members. The research subject will also be the determination of the attitudes of small businessmen toward organizing themselves in trade unions. In this case, motivators and barriers to entry will also be mapped at the level of entrepreneurs themselves, including legislative and institutional obstacles.

The project will also focus on trade union organizations in the culture sector. Due to the specificity of trade unions and their members in this sector, attitudes to trade union organization among members of trade unions associated with the Confederation of Arts and Culture will be mapped with the help of a survey.

Based on the aforementioned analyses, materials containing basic principles and procedures will be created, which should help union representatives gradually stabilize and eventually strengthen the union base.

The project is supported by the Norwegian Financial Mechanism 2014–2021, from the program “Social Dialogue – Decent Work”.
