HRS4R/HR Award

The HR Excellence in Research Award (HR Award) is a prestigious European Commission award in the field of quality care for human resources in the research, development and innovation sectors. Via this award, the European Commission recognises those institutions that strive to align their human resources policies with the 40 principles of the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers. The implementation of the Charter and the Code is ensured via the Human Resources Strategy For Researchers (HRS4R) framework. RILSA is currently implementing the various phases of HRS4R. Details of the procedure are set out in the Implementation Action Plan.

The benefits of the implementation of HRS4R for RILSA and its researchers

The implementation of HRS4R principles is aimed at providing support for the development of the capacities, knowledge and skills of RILSA employees. It provides both stimuli and a long-term perspective for RILSA’s human resource management strategy, which, once the implementation process is concluded, will be fully compliant with the terms of the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers.

The award means for RILSA and its researchers:

  • the enhancement of the prestige of working for RILSA, including the enhanced attractiveness of the organisation for both Czech and foreign researchers;
  • deeper involvement in the international network of research organisations;
  • the potential for obtaining financial bonuses for RILSA’s research from European and domestic research support programmes, i.e. preferential treatment in TA ČR, HORIZON 2020 programmes, etc.;
  • the enhancement of the quality of care for RILSA’s human resources pool by improving the conditions for enjoying an attractive career in the field of research with the contribution of the development of principles and procedures for the assessment and motivation of researchers.

systematic approach to improving the culture of the organisation with the contribution of the introduction of the principles and tools set out in existing internal RILSA strategic human resources management documentation.

The publication of the HRS4R implementation process will be performed gradually in accordance with the schedule set out in the RILSA Action Plan.

Current status and implementation details

2022 September – November

The realisation of the various activities involved in the initial phase of the HRS4R strategy – a RILSA internal survey was conducted that focused specifically on the principles and rules of the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers.
