Experiences of homeless people with access to healthcare in the Czech Republic
The research activity focuses on the experiences of homeless people with the availability of healthcare in the Czech Republic in situations where they themselves need it. The emphasis is on identifying and describing the barriers that these people encounter when trying to receive healthcare. These include both individual barriers and systemic barriers resulting from the setting of the healthcare system, as well as limitations given by their living and material conditions.
The research also includes an assessment of the satisfaction of homeless respondents with the quality and effectiveness of healthcare that they have been provided with in the past. Contact with the health care system is, in the analysis, also understood as an opportunity to offer support in addressing housing distress.
The project outputs will contribute to a better understanding of the role of the “Street medicine” service in the Czech context, especially in terms of defining activities and interventions in which it is difficult or impossible to replace with the standard healthcare system.
