The subject of the project consists of the remuneration system of civil servants, the salary funding of whom is entirely or predominantly provided from the state budget in selected countries of the European Union. The authors address the issue of the remuneration of constitutionally-appointed officials and other workers employed in the civil service. The results of the project consist of a study which comprehensively describes the given issue, including the strengths and weaknesses of the Czech salary system, together with suggestions concerning the adjustment thereof focusing particularly on the motivation and performance components of the salary. It is proposed that the results of the analysis will prove useful with respect to potential further work on the design of a completely new remuneration system covering state employees.
