Description:

The project “Impacts of Digitization of Work on Employment, Collective Bargaining and Social Security of Employees” constituted a wider platform for six topical research projects (see https://www.ospzv-aso.cz/obsah/71/ve-stredu-dne-15-listopadu-2017-usporadala-asociace-samostat/20643). Within the framework of this wider project, RILSA carried out a sub-project” Employing person during and after imprisonment and employers’ approach to these persons”. This project focused specifically on the perspective of persons released from imprisonment (hereinafter referred to as “released persons”) and observed their subjective perception of their own situation on the labour market and their own reflection of their possibilities of job application. This reflection was also gained from those who have already been employed. Thanks to this, it was possible to reflect their situation immediately after their release and when they were looking for employment, but it also allowed to assess their current position on the labour market and perceive their own position in the current workplace. One of the main goals of the research project was to provide a more detailed description and deeper understanding of the situation which encounter released persons. It also pictured the main influences of this situation on the working career / employment history of released persons. In connection with this, the contribution observed the main barriers after the release, work experience and other important events (the “milestones”) that affect the working life of the individual. The knowledge gathered on the job history of respondents and related circumstances also helped to identify and describe some important factors that improve or, on the contrary, exacerbate the chances of released persons on the labour market. The research design also allowed to observe internal dynamics of key circumstances which determine the employment opportunities of these persons.
