The monitoring of labour costs in the Czech Republic, European Union countries and the USA
Monitoring with the aid of certified methodology eliminates the methodological fragmentation of the monitoring and interpretation of labour costs and labour as a production factor, i.e. the position of work in the reproductive process. It allows for the collection and processing of data from both domestic and foreign sources in one place (Czech Statistical Office, Czech Ministry of Finance, the OECD, Eurostat and the US Department of Commerce, Bureau of Economic Analysis) and, at the same time, relies on labour and tax statistics and the national accounts system. The collected data allows for the monitoring of labour costs with respect to the Czech Republic and other EU countries. Unit labour costs can be quantified for EU Member States and the USA, whereas the relevant documentation is lacking with respect to other countries. In order to fully reflect the various trends, the published characteristics will relate to data for the period 2012–2017. The publicly available monitoring results are used by the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, social partners and the wider public as well as experts.
