Electromobility from the Perspective of Occupational Health and Safety
The project was developed in response to initiatives from the State Labour Inspection Office (SLIO). Its aim is to determine how employers and their employees are prepared for the increasing number of electric vehicles in their fleets, how this trend will affect occupational health and safety (OHS), and what measures would help ensure OHS in connection with the growing use of electric vehicles by employers.
The project therefore sets out the following objectives:
To prepare an overview of the obligations of operators (users) of electric vehicles and the risks associated with the use of electric vehicles by employers (including risks related to emergency situations).
To describe the current approach of employers to ensuring OHS in connection with the use of electric vehicles (including risk assessments, adopted measures, and the method and content of OHS training).
To propose ways to improve OHS among employers using electric vehicles and, where appropriate, to suggest how inspections carried out by the Regional Labour Inspectorates (RLIs) could be improved in this area.
To achieve these objectives, the project will use data from literature sources as well as data obtained through field research (quantitative and qualitative surveys among relevant stakeholders, particularly employers operating transport services, or employers operating or using so-called company vehicles assigned to employees, professionally qualified risk prevention specialists, professionally qualified fire protection specialists, and representatives of the RLIs), data from occupational accident statistics, and data concerning electric vehicle malfunctions (fires) available from the Fire Rescue Service of the Czech Republic, or from electric vehicle manufacturers (if such data are provided).
