Analysis of the needs of social workers in municipalities in relation to housing provision
As part of the study, comprehensive materials were compiled that provided a fluid picture of the situation of social workers employed by municipal authorities with extended powers, municipalities with authorised municipal offices and the various administrative districts of the capital city, Prague, in terms of their education, educational needs with regard to housing deprivation and the topic of social housing in general. The material also captured the context of the performance of social work in municipalities aimed at the target group (persons with housing needs). The study provides basic information on the current range of activities performed by social workers in municipalities with concern to the target group and basic information on the situation in municipalities in terms of the availability of social housing, social services that cover the target group and the presence of socially excluded areas. The outputs of the study included the identification of the barriers that social workers in municipalities face concerning their activities connected with the social housing system. The approach to the study included a combination of several research and analytical methods, i.e. focus groups, the Delphi method and a questionnaire survey. The resulting analytical material is based both on the opinions of social workers themselves on the appropriate content and form of further education covering assistance for persons in need, and on the opinions of the managers of social work departments and a large group of experts in the field.
