Biography

Tomáš Katrňák graduated in sociology from the Faculty of Social Studies in Brno (Ph.D., 2002). In 2009, he was awarded an associate professorship and ten years later was awarded a professorship. He works at the Department of Sociology of the Faculty of Social Sciences of Masaryk University in Brno, of which he is currently head. His main professional interests lie in issues surrounding social inequality and the analysis of class – specifically, the differences between social classes and the reasons for their emergence. He also focuses on social inequality and the aspects that influence it (education, parental education, financial background, etc.). He also addresses issues concerned with partner relationships, especially between young people.
