prof. PhDr. Libor Musil, CSc.
Libor Musil studied sociology at the J. E. Purkyně University in Brno (today the Masaryk University, Brno). In 1990 he was awarded his candidate of sciences degree and in 1999 he was awarded his associate professorship. From 1985 to 1990 he worked at the Institute of Industrial Landscape Ecology of the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences in Ostrava. From 1990 to 1997 he lectured at the Faculty of Arts, Masaryk University in Brno. Since 1997 he has been a member of the Department of Social Policy and Social Work at the Faculty of Social Studies, Masaryk University in Brno. In 2008 he was appointed professor. His main professional interests lie in social policy and social work concerning mainly issues related to the organisation and culture of social services. From 2003 to 2006 he was a member of the Commission of the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs of the Czech Republic for Lifelong Education in Social Work. He is currently a member of the scientific councils of the Faculty of Theology of the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice, the Faculty of Social Studies of Masaryk University in Brno, and the Faculty of Health and Social Sciences of the University of Ostrava. Since 2002, he has been a member of the Working Group for Social Sciences of the Accreditation Commission of the Czech Republic. He has long been active on the editorial boards of professional journals, e.g. the board of the Sociální práce/Sociálna práca journal, which he chaired from 2002 to 2006, subsequently becoming its vice-chairman.
