Biography

Olga Nešporová received her doctorate in social anthropology at the Faculty of Humanities, Charles University in Prague (2008). She completed a study internship at the J. W. Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main – Institute für Soziologie (2003 to 2004). From 2003 to 2014, she was involved in research projects conducted at the Institute of Sociology of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, and since 2019, she has worked with the Institute of Ethnology of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic. From 2008 to 2009, and again from 2020, she has been a lecturer at the Faculty of Humanities, Charles University in Prague. She specialises in the sociology of the family, family policy, the work-care balance, parenthood, and intergenerational relations. In addition to issues directly related to the family, she also focuses on religiosity, and the sociology of death and disposal of the body. She also devotes part of her research to issues surrounding homelessness. From 2023 up to the present she is a member of the advisory panel of the Czech Academy of Sciences, P404 – sociology, demography, social geography and media studies. She is a member of the editorial boards of the Social Policy/Polityka Społeczna and Lidé města journals.
