Testing and certification

RILSA operates as a european Notified Body No. 1024. This designation authorizes the Institute to assess the conformity of selected personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2016/425 on PPE and to issue the necessary certificates, which are valid throughout the European Union. Within RILSA, these activities are carried out by the Testing and Certification department. In compliance with the requirements of European conformity assessment, the activities of RILSA-OS 1024 are based on the results of tests conducted by the Testing Laboratory RILSA-ZL 1040, accredited by the Czech Accreditation Institute. The accreditation certificate, including its annex listing all accredited tests, is available here. Product evaluations are further supported by the findings of the accredited certification body for product certification, RILSA-COV 3068; the accreditation certificate of this body, including its annex, is likewise available here.

Through the OZC, RILSA also provides testing and certification services for temporary construction structures (TCS), primarily scaffolding. Since this specific product category is not covered by a European legislative framework defining the essential health and safety requirements, conformity assessment is based solely on national and European standards. As a result, RILSA-OZC may issue voluntary certificates that are valid exclusively within the Czech Republic.

The OZC also engages in standardization activities related to PPE and TCS. It hosts the Technical Standardization Centre for relevant Czech technical standards and contributes to the development of corresponding European standards in cooperation with the Czech Agency for Standardization. It provides the organizational and expert background for Technical Standardization Committees TNK 3 (PPE) and TNK 92 (Scaffolding). In collaboration with the Czech Office for Standards, Metrology and Testing (ÚNMZ), it organizes coordination meetings for Czech Notified Bodies active in the PPE sector. Moreover, it undertakes and coordinates tasks arising from the testing development programme of ÚNMZ.
