Gender Equality Plan (GEP)

The Research Institute for Labour and Social Affairs (RILSA) has responded to the equal opportunities challenges identified by the European Commission in its “Horizon Europe – Gender Equality – a strengthened commitment in Horizon Europe” document via the creation of its own Gender Equality Plan (GEP). The RILSA GEP provides a tool for the promotion of an environment that ensures equal access to opportunities for the Institute’s personnel. All RILSA’s employees are treated fairly and without discrimination.

The implementation of a comprehensive gender equality plan requires sustained effort and cooperation from all those involved, i.e. it is an evolving process that requires regular (at least annual) assessment and the careful consideration of the findings so as to ensure its effectiveness.

RILSA is committed via its GEP to systematic development in terms of gender equality and the creation of a just and gender-balanced work environment. Moreover, the GEP also takes into account other factors that could lead to persons being disadvantaged.

The Plan strives to continuously raise the awareness of gender equality and unintentional gender prejudices on a continuous basis via the education of its employees.

RILSA commits via its GEP to further systematic progress particularly with respect to the following priority areas:

  1. the reconciliation of personal and work life and the overall organisational culture;
  2. the gender balance in management and decision-making;
  3. gender equality in recruitment and career progression;
  4. the incorporation of the gender dimension into the organisation’s research and teaching activities;
  5. measures aimed at countering gender-based aggression, including sexual harassment.
