Testing and certification

RILSA has the status of a European Notified Body (NB); registration number 1024. This means that the Institute is authorised to assess the conformity of selected personal protective equipment (PPE) according to Regulation (EU) 2016/425 on PPE and to issue the respective certification that is valid throughout the European Union. With concern to RILSA, the Testing and Certification Department is responsible for the performance of the Notified Body agenda. In accordance with requirements covering the assessment of European conformity, the work performed under RILSA-NB 1024 is based on the results of tests conducted by the RILSA-TL 1040 testing laboratory, which has accreditation from the Czech Institute for Accreditation. The accreditation certificate, including an annex that lists the various accredited tests conducted, can be found here. RILSA further provides for the testing and certification of temporary building structures through its Testing and Certification Department, with concern primarily to scaffolding. Since no European legislation has been introduced in this specific context that serves to define the related health and safety requirements, conformity assessment is based on Czech and European standards. Thus, the RILSA Testing and Certification Department issues voluntary certificates that are valid only for the Czech Republic.

The Testing and Certification Department is involved in standardisation procedures for both PPE and temporary building structures. The department is responsible for the management of the Technical Standardisation Centre for related Czech technical standards and is active in the creation of the relevant European standards in cooperation with the Czech Agency for Standardisation. It provides support for the TNK 3 PPE and TNK 92 Scaffolding technical standardisation committees. In cooperation with the Office for Technical Standardisation, Metrology and State Testing (ÚNMZ), it organises coordination meetings for those Czech notified bodies that operate in the field of PPE. It also provides and coordinates activities stemming from the ÚNMZ testing development programme.
