RILSA researchers attend a seminar on the Reach Out to the “Left-Behind” – improving guidance for working persons from the underprivileged milieu project held in Vienna
On 20 and 21 June, RILSA researchers Jana Váňová and Soňa Veverková participated in a seminar held in Vienna as part of the Reach Out to the “Left-Behind” – improving guidance for working persons from the underprivileged milieu project.
The project is supported by the ERASMUS+ programme and its aim is to map the options available for enhancing the skills and qualifications of employed people from unfavourable environments. Such persons usually have a low level of education and are at risk of so-called income poverty, while further education could help them to secure better employment in the labour market.
The contribution by Jana Váňová provided a summary of progress to date concerning the various related issues and presented suggestions on the continuation of the project. Filip Červenka, who is also a researcher at RILSA, contributed online on the topic of the EUROSTAT database of the so-called working poor.
The attached graph addresses the question of how the Czech Republic is progressing in terms of addressing income poverty compared to the other countries that are taking part in the project. It was concluded that progress to date is relatively good, which is due mainly to the long-term shortage of workers in the Czech labour market.
The Vienna seminar will be followed by a seminar to be held in Prague in November 2022, which will be hosted by the Research Institute for Labour and Social Affairs.
