Mgr. Jana Paloncyová, Ph.D.

Jana Paloncyová graduated with a master’s degree in demography from the Faculty of Science and sociology from the Faculty of Arts, Charles University in Prague, and subsequently continued her doctoral studies at the Department of Demography and Geodemography, Faculty of Science, Charles University. From 2000 to 2001, she studied at the Institut de Démographie de l’Université Paris I – Panthéon-Sorbonne in Paris, and from 2003 to 2004, she completed an internship at the French Institute for Research in the Social Sciences (CEFRES) in Prague. Since 2001, she has been working at the Research Institute for Labour and Social Affairs in the Department of Family Policy, which she has headed since 2021. Her professional interests include family policy, demography, the sociology of the family, the social and legal protection of children, and alternative family care. In 2019, she was a member of the assessment team of the Family-Friendly Municipality competition organised by the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, and in 2020, an expert member of the committee of the Safe Foster Family, Good Family, o.p.s. project. In 2023, she was an expert member of the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs Committee for the Family Policy Strategy 2023 to 2030 and a member of the Committee for the Reconciliation of Work, Private and Family Life of the Department for Gender Equality of the Office of the Government of the Czech Republic. Since 2022, she has been the chair of the RILSA Council. She is also a member of the IUSSP. In recent years, she has participated in numerous projects including Comprehensive Research into the Situation of Families and Seniors, Children in Parental Conflict, Impacts of the COVID-19 Pandemic on Solo Parents, and Enrichment of the Database for the Creation and Evaluation of Family Policy. She has participated in the compilation of the Family Report numerous times (2017, 2020, 2023).
