Mgr. Jana Barvíková, Ph.D.
Jana Barvíková graduated with a master’s degree in social work and social policy from the Faculty of Arts, Charles University, and subsequently continued her doctoral studies in sociology at the Faculty of Social Studies, Charles University. She also completed a course in psychotherapeutic training in transformational systemic therapy at the Virginia Satir (MOVISA) Institute. She further completed study stays at the Europe-Institute for Social Work at Alice Salomon University of Applied Sciences, Berlin – European Summer School for Social Work: (Un)Employment in Europe (August 1999), the Universität des Saarlandes (April to July 2000), the Europe-Institute for Social Work at Alice Salomon University of Applied Sciences, Berlin – European Summer School for Social Work: From the European Summer School towards a strong and powerful Network of European Social Workers (May 2002) and the Bauhaus Universität, Weimar & the Blekinge Institute of Technology Karlskrona – Future Urban Research in Europe: Culture and the City, EU-Fellowship Programme (July 2007). Her main professional interests comprise research topics related to the family, family policy, the social and legal protection of children and foster care. Since 2015, she has been a member of the expert group for foster care of the Sirius Foundation. From 2016 to 2018, she was a member of the Platform for Expert Round Table Groups on issues surrounding leaving foster care as part of the Janus, z.s. Keys to Independence II project, and from 2020 to 2021, a member of the expert group of the Safe Foster Family, Good Family, o.p.s. project. She is currently working on a research project entitled “The impacts of the extent of parental conflict on children and the role played by specific forms of post-divorce care arrangements”.
