Ing. Karel Škréta
Karel Škréta graduated from the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Czech Technical University in Prague. He worked for three years as a site manager on residential and technical construction projects. In 1981 he joined the Occupational Safety Research Institute (now RILSA), initially in the workplace environment department, focusing on the testing and development of temporary construction structures. He collaborated with industrial and construction companies and contributed to scaffolding design for the Dukovany Nuclear Power Plant, obtaining an author’s certificate for a new type of flooring element for tubular scaffolding.
Later he moved to the department responsible for testing and certifying temporary construction structures and personal protective equipment (PPE), which he headed for many years. He undertook short-term training in France and Germany on PPE conformity assessment systems. He served as long-term chair of the Technical Standardization Committee 3 for PPE and is an active member of member of the Technical Standardization Committee for Scaffolding. He has contributed to the drafting of Czech technical standards for temporary structures and participated in the development of professional qualifications for scaffolders.
A founding member and current member of the Czech-Moravian Chamber of Scaffolders, he also coordinates the activities of Czech notified bodies for PPE conformity assessment. For several decades he has been engaged in training scaffold and PPE specialists and has published widely in professional journals and online.
