Specialist Department for the Prevention of Major Accidents

The specialist facility focuses on reducing the risks associated with hazardous chemical substances and limiting the consequences of major accidents. Since 2000, the facility has been closely involved in the national system for the prevention of major accidents and since 2015 it has been authorised by the Minister of the Environment to assess safety documentation pursuant to Act No. 224/2015 Coll.

Its main activities include the evaluation and assessment of safety documentation, the professional training of state administration employees, consulting services and the drawing up of methodological materials and recommended procedures. The department is also involved in publication and educational activities in the fields of risk assessment and safety management systems.
