Ergonomics and Occupational Risk Prevention Department
The Department of Ergonomics and Occupational Risk Prevention focuses on research, professional, and practical activities in the field of occupational safety and health (OSH), occupational risk prevention, nanosaferty, and improving the quality of working life. It specializes in comprehensive risk assessment and management, including analyses of working conditions and environments, ergonomic workplace design, and human factor reliability assessment.
The department provides professional services in the field of OSH, industrial safety, ergonomics, and occupational psychology, conducts external audits, and participates in the prevention of occupational accidents and emergencies with an emphasis on sustainability and the environment. The department’s activities also include simulating the impacts of chemical accidents, creating company guidelines and operating regulations, and designing safety signage for operations.
An important area is the protection of health against exposure to nanomaterials and nanoparticles in the workplace, including measuring their concentrations, proposing preventive measures, and cooperating with specialized workplaces in the Czech Republic and abroad.
The department also applies operational research methods, monitors the development of occupational accidents, incapacity for work, and unemployment, analyzes their causes, and prepares predictions of future developments with regard to economic and social changes. It pays special attention to the impact of new technologies on working conditions, the emergence of new risks, and the use of modern methods of prevention and education.
