Another RILSA Workshop at the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs on Society’s Adaptation to Population Aging
On April 17, 2026, the Research Institute for Labor and Social Affairs (RILSA) held its second workshop, titled “Tools for Society’s Adaptation to Population Aging with an Emphasis on Gender,” at the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs. It followed up on a similar event held on May 27, 2025.
At the April workshop, the RILSA team led by Tomáš Sirovátka presented studies developed as part of the project “Tools for Society’s Adaptation to Population Aging with an Emphasis on Gender” and outlined current follow-up research projects focusing on selected aspects of the issue of working longevity. Individual presentations highlighted selected key findings from completed or ongoing studies. These were supplemented by insights from monitoring the benefits of Call 037 projects targeting older working women—Kateřina Vojtíšková and Petra Polanecká from the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs reported on this topic.
The main focus of the presentations and the subsequent discussion sessions, moderated by Jana Řeháková Fučíková from the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs and Lucie Vidovičová from RILSA, was on the implications for public and social policy, including employment policy. Measures in the pension system and labor taxation to promote flexibility and incentives for a longer working life were discussed at both a general and specific level, as well as support for the employability of older workers through lifelong learning and active labor market policies, and the development and promotion of age management in both private and public sector organizations, and, finally, the elimination of ageism. This set of measures is relevant to the Strategic Framework and Action Plans for societal preparedness.
Presentations from the workshop can be found on the website of the project “Tools for Societal Adaptation to Population Aging with an Emphasis on Gender”.
