Specialized Department for the Prevention of Serious Accidents

The specialized department focuses on reducing risks associated with hazardous chemical substances and mitigating the consequences of major accidents. Since 2000, it has been involved in the national system for the prevention of major accidents, and since 2015 it has been authorized by the Minister of the Environment to assess safety documentation in accordance with Act No. 224/2015 Coll.

Its core activities include the evaluation and assessment of safety documentation, professional training of public administration staff, consultancy, and the development of methodological materials and recommended procedures. The department is also engaged in publishing and outreach activities in the fields of risk assessment and safety management systems.
